UK immigration advice for professionals and skilled workers
A new role, promotion or move to the UK can shape your career and your family’s future. You need to understand how the opportunity fits your immigration position, what preparation is required and when you can take the next step.
Knightsbridge Immigration supports professionals and skilled workers with applications, changes of employment and plans to remain in the UK. We assess your circumstances alongside the proposed work, helping you make decisions about employment, relocation and the people moving with you.
Prepare to take up a UK role
The Skilled Worker visa requires an eligible job with a licensed sponsor, together with the relevant salary and individual eligibility requirements. The proposed duties, working arrangements and Certificate of Sponsorship all need consideration.
We review the information relevant to your application and explain what is needed from you and your employer. This includes identifying evidence gaps and checking that the proposed employment details are consistent.
Understanding these points early helps you coordinate application preparation with your intended start date, notice period and relocation arrangements.
Change employer or progress in your career
If you hold Skilled Worker permission, moving to a different employer normally requires a new Certificate of Sponsorship and an application to update your visa. Certain changes of role with your existing employer can also require a further application.
We assess the proposed duties, occupation code and salary alongside your current permission. We then explain the steps required and when the new work can begin.
A promotion or career move should be considered before the change takes effect, so you and your employer can account for any immigration requirements.
Continue working beyond your current permission
You may be approaching the end of a Graduate visa, preparing to extend Skilled Worker permission or considering a different route as your circumstances develop.
The requirements can depend on your immigration history, current role and the dates of previous sponsorship. We examine these details before advising on the next application.
Where your qualifications or professional achievements may support another option, we can consider routes such as High Potential Individual or Global Talent, subject to their specific requirements. This helps you understand which options deserve further assessment.
Include your partner and children in the plan
A career decision may also involve your partner’s work, your children’s schooling and the practicalities of moving together.
Eligibility for dependants can vary according to the route, occupation and immigration history. We check the position of each family member and explain the evidence and applications required.
If you are extending or changing your own permission, your family’s visas also need consideration. Their permission does not automatically extend with yours, so the relevant expiry dates should form part of the preparation.
Look ahead to settlement
If your longer-term aim is to make the UK your permanent home, it helps to understand how your immigration history and future choices relate to settlement.
We consider your periods of permission, time outside the UK and the relevant employment requirements when assessing your position. Where an application is not yet appropriate, we explain what needs to be established or maintained before the next stage.
This allows you to plan beyond the immediate visa application.
Discuss your next step
Tell us about your current immigration position, the role you hold or have been offered, and any important dates. Include whether a partner or children will apply with you.
You may need advice on eligibility, a review of supporting documents or assistance preparing an application. We will confirm whether we can assist and explain the proposed work and fees before you decide whether to instruct us.
