Creative Worker Visa

Heading to the UK for creative work? Get guidance on sponsorship, evidence and your Creative Worker visa application. Request a case review.

A UK production, performance or creative engagement often comes with a timetable that is already taking shape. Immigration preparation needs to account for the work, the sponsor and the dates involved.

Knightsbridge helps creative professionals prepare straightforward Creative Worker visa applications with clear guidance on sponsorship, evidence and submission.

About this route

The Creative Worker visa is a temporary sponsored route for qualifying work in the creative industries. It can cover actors, dancers, musicians and eligible production or technical personnel.

You need sponsorship from an appropriately licensed organisation. The route normally allows an initial stay of up to 12 months, subject to the sponsored engagement. Eligible partners and children can apply as dependants.

An extension with the same sponsor may allow a total stay of up to 24 months, subject to the rules. This route does not itself lead to settlement.

Eligibility Check

Before preparing the application, consider:

  • Have you secured a qualifying creative engagement?
  • Will an appropriately licensed sponsor provide your Certificate of Sponsorship?
  • Does the role meet the relevant creative sponsorship requirements?
  • Are the work dates, locations and payment arrangements clear?
  • Can you meet the maintenance requirement or an applicable exemption?
  • Are you applying alone or with eligible family members?

Where a relevant Creative Workers Code of Practice exists, the sponsorship must meet it. Where there is no applicable code, different requirements apply, including a unique contribution to UK creative life.

Understanding your situation

Your application may relate to a single production, a tour, a series of performances or work involving more than one sponsor.

We look at the actual engagement rather than relying on the job title. The aim is to understand who is sponsoring you, what you will do and how the different dates and documents fit together.

How Knightsbridge Helps

We can check the application requirements, review sponsorship information, identify the documents needed and prepare your application for review before submission.

With your permission, we can raise factual queries with the relevant sponsor or production contact. Your sponsor remains responsible for assigning sponsorship and meeting its own obligations.

Our service also helps you understand the practical application steps, including identity verification and the information needed for accompanying dependants.

Addressing Challenges

Creative schedules can change during preparation. A revised start date, an additional engagement or a different sponsor may affect the information required.

Where several engagements are involved, the sponsorship arrangements and permitted gaps need particular attention. We check the application against the confirmed schedule and identify points requiring clarification.

Timescales and Costs

The application fee is currently £340 per applicant. The Immigration Health Surcharge may also be payable, depending on the application.

Standard decisions usually take three weeks outside the UK or eight weeks inside the UK after the required application steps are completed. Production deadlines do not guarantee a faster decision.

Our professional fee, agreed work and any applicable VAT are confirmed in writing.

Situations requiring closer analysis

Certain eligible short engagements can use the separate Creative Worker concession, which has specific nationality, sponsorship and entry requirements. It should not be assumed that travelling as a visitor provides permission to undertake the work.

We identify whether your enquiry needs specialist referral, including where the proposed arrangements fall outside our authorised scope.

Your journey with Knightsbridge

We begin with your engagement: the work you have been offered, the organisation involved and the dates you are trying to meet. The initial enquiry helps establish which service is appropriate and whether the necessary sponsorship arrangements are in place.

Once instructed, we give you a tailored document list and explain what needs to come from you and your sponsor. We review the engagement details alongside your personal circumstances, checking for gaps or conflicting information.

As the application takes shape, we keep outstanding questions clear so you know what is still needed. You review the completed application before submission and have an opportunity to correct factual details.

We then explain the remaining application steps and handle agreed correspondence. When a decision arrives, we help you understand the permission granted. Any later engagement, sponsor change or extension is considered separately against the circumstances at that time.
