Begin your studies with a clear application plan
Your course offer is an important step. You also need a visa application that meets the immigration requirements and fits your course start date.
Knightsbridge helps you check eligibility, organise the evidence and prepare your Student visa application.
Tell us your course, education provider, start date and current location. We will explain whether we can assist, the appropriate service and its fees.
About this route
The Student route is for people aged 16 or over studying an eligible course with a licensed sponsor.
Your education provider handles admission and issues your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). We assess the immigration requirements and prepare the application work you agree with us.
Permission to work depends on your course and sponsor. School pupils may need the separate Child Student route.
Eligibility Check
The main questions are:
- Are you at least 16?
- Do you have an eligible course and a valid CAS?
- Can you meet the applicable English language requirement?
- Can you meet the course fee and living-cost requirements, or does an exemption apply?
- If applying in the UK, can you switch or extend under the relevant rules?
- Do you need parental consent, an ATAS certificate or a TB test?
Current rules require refusal of new overseas Student applications made using Afghan, Cameroonian, Myanmar or Sudanese nationality. This restriction does not cover eligible applications made within the UK.
Understanding your situation
You may be starting your first UK course, continuing your studies or changing education provider.
We examine your course dates, current permission, study history, funding arrangements and CAS details. We identify what needs to be ready before submission and how the application fits your intended study plans.
How Knightsbridge Helps
For an agreed application service, we review the relevant requirements and give you a tailored document request.
We check your CAS details, financial records, English language evidence and any additional certificates or consents required. We identify gaps and explain what needs resolving before preparing the application.
You review the information before submission. We guide you through identity and evidence requirements and handle the submission and follow-up included in your agreed service.
Addressing Challenges
Financial evidence needs careful timing. Where cash funds are required, they normally must be held for 28 consecutive days, with that period ending within 31 days before the application. Eligible loans and official financial sponsorship have different evidence requirements.
We check the amount, funding source and evidence dates.
If your course is deferred or CAS details change, we establish what needs updating with your provider before proceeding.
Timescales and Costs
Preparation depends on CAS availability, complete evidence and any further assessment. We explain the preparation timetable before work begins.
You can normally apply up to six months before your course starts from overseas, or three months beforehand from the UK. UK applications must also meet the relevant expiry and course-start requirements.
Standard decisions usually take three weeks overseas or eight weeks in the UK. Faster processing may be available for an additional charge.
The current application fee is £558. The Immigration Health Surcharge is £776 per year for students, calculated according to the permission granted.
We confirm our professional fee, scope and any applicable VAT in writing. Translation, testing and priority charges are separate.
Situations requiring closer analysis
Academic progression, previous study, refusals, uncertain immigration status or sponsorship conditions may require further assessment before application work is agreed.
Dependant eligibility is restricted. We check your course, sponsorship and family circumstances before advising on applications for a partner or children.
