Plan your UK visit with clear advice and carefully prepared evidence.
Whether you are visiting family, taking a holiday or attending business meetings, your application needs to explain your plans, funding and circumstances.
Knightsbridge helps assess the proposed visit and prepare an application supported by relevant evidence.
Our free initial enquiry identifies whether we can assist and the appropriate service. Detailed eligibility advice, document review and application preparation are agreed separately.
About this route
The Standard Visitor route covers tourism, family visits and specified business activities, including meetings and conferences. Stays are normally limited to six months.
Depending on your nationality and circumstances, you may need a visa, an Electronic Travel Authorisation or neither. The visitor requirements still apply.
A visitor visa does not provide general permission to work or make the UK your main home. Each proposed activity needs to fall within the permitted rules.
Eligibility Check
The main questions are:
- Is your visit for a permitted purpose? Business travel, study and paid engagements have specific conditions.
- Will you leave the UK when your visit ends? Your plans and personal circumstances must support a temporary stay.
- Can you afford the visit and return or onward journey? Funding must cover reasonable costs without prohibited work or public funds.
- Is someone else providing support? Their relationship to you, ability to pay and proposed arrangements need to be evidenced.
- Does your travel history support the proposed visit? Frequent or successive visits must not amount to living in the UK.
There is no fixed minimum bank balance. The funds needed depend on your trip, available support and financial commitments.
Understanding your situation
You may be retired, studying, self-employed or relying on a relative to pay for the trip. Your evidence needs to reflect those circumstances.
We consider your visit purpose, planned duration, finances, accommodation and plans afterwards. Where a host or employer provides support, we examine what they will cover and the supporting records.
How Knightsbridge Helps
For an agreed application service, we:
- Assess your circumstances against the visitor requirements.
- Provide a tailored document list.
- Review financial evidence, travel plans and any host’s supporting documents.
- Identify inconsistencies and explain what clarification is needed.
- Prepare the application and review it with you.
- Complete submission and follow-up work included in your engagement.
Addressing Challenges
Recent deposits, irregular income or unclear sponsorship arrangements can need explanation. A planned stay may also need to be considered alongside your work, studies or other commitments.
We check whether your records support the information declared, including the source of funds and proposed trip costs. Any explanation must accurately reflect your circumstances.
Timescales and Costs
Preparation depends on receiving the required information and evidence. You can apply up to three months before travelling.
Home Office decisions usually take three weeks after the online application, identity checks and supporting documents are completed. Allow separately for preparation and appointments.
Current government fees are:
- Standard Visitor visa, up to six months: £135 per person.
- Two-year visa: £506.
- Five-year visa: £903.
- Ten-year visa: £1,128.
Long-term visas normally allow up to six months per visit. They do not permit continuous residence.
Visitor applications do not attract the Immigration Health Surcharge. We confirm our professional fee, scope and any applicable VAT in writing. Priority processing, where available, costs extra.
Situations requiring closer analysis
Previous refusals, immigration breaches, criminal history or a pattern of lengthy visits may require separate assessment.
Children’s travel, marriage plans, medical treatment and certain business or paid activities also need additional checks. We establish the appropriate route and whether we can assist before agreeing the work.
