Business, Immigration & HR Audits

Immigration and HR audits from £1,000. Remote or on-site reviews, ten-file samples and written findings. Request a Case Assessment.

Immigration & HR Audits

Your sponsorship records should reflect what happens in your business: who is working for you, the role they perform, the checks you have completed and the changes you have reported. An immigration and HR audit helps you examine whether those records and the processes behind them are working as they should.

Knightsbridge provides Home Office-style audits for employers, reviewing worker files, sponsorship information and the way your team handles its responsibilities. You receive a written report and, where improvements are needed, a corrective plan.

Audits start from £1,000, with a fixed fee agreed once the scope is defined. We offer remote and on-site audits, with travel costs included in the agreed fee.

When an audit can help

An audit can be useful when you want to check your existing arrangements, prepare for a Home Office compliance visit, or understand whether your processes have kept pace with changes in your workforce. It can also help when responsibility for sponsorship has passed to a new member of staff or your records are held across different systems.

The review gives the business owner, Authorising Officer or HR team a clearer picture of the areas examined and any action needed. If you have already received correspondence from the Home Office, tell us about it when you enquire so that we can assess the work required against any existing deadline.

What we examine

We agree the audit scope around your organisation, workforce, locations and the depth of review required. The core areas cover the records you hold, the checks you undertake and how information reaches the people responsible for sponsorship.

Right-to-work checks and worker records

We review right-to-work evidence and the worker records within the agreed sample. This includes looking at how relevant information is kept, updated and retrieved, and whether the records support the checks your business says it has carried out.

A file containing a document does not, by itself, explain when a check took place or whether the correct process was followed. We look at the evidence in context so that the findings identify the issue requiring attention.

Attendance monitoring and SMS reporting

We examine how your business monitors attendance and identifies changes that may need to be reported through the Sponsorship Management System, usually called the SMS.

This includes the way information moves between managers, HR staff and the person responsible for making reports. A process needs to work when a worker’s circumstances change, including when the person who first learns about the change is not the SMS user.

Certificates of Sponsorship, duties, salary and hours

We review consistency between the Certificate of Sponsorship, or CoS, the worker’s records and the role being performed, including duties, salary and hours.

Where information differs, the significance needs to be considered against the applicable sponsorship requirements and the circumstances of the worker. The audit helps identify discrepancies that need attention and the points requiring further investigation.

How sponsorship responsibilities are carried out

The audit includes focused conversations with your Authorising Officer or Level 1 user. These help us understand who handles the relevant tasks, how decisions are made and how your processes operate during an ordinary working day.

We use those conversations alongside the records reviewed to examine how the arrangements work in practice.

A review of ten randomly selected files

Our standard file review uses a random sample of 10 worker files. We confirm the file review scope with you before the audit, alongside the locations and processes to be examined.

Sampling provides evidence about the files examined and can reveal wider weaknesses in the way records or responsibilities are managed. The findings relate to the agreed scope and the information available at the time. They do not certify every worker file or guarantee the outcome of a later Home Office inspection.

An audit arranged around your working day

We can carry out the audit remotely or at your premises. The audit session can take up to four hours, and you do not need to be present throughout.

If you have an HR team, we can work with the team responsible for the records and day-to-day processes. If you are a sole trader or run a small limited company, we can arrange shorter conversations during the working day, allowing the review to progress around your other responsibilities.

Before the audit, we establish who holds the relevant information and who needs to be available for particular questions. You will need to make the agreed records available and give an accurate account of how your arrangements operate. We organise the review around your existing setup.

Your written report and corrective plan

You receive a written report setting out the audit findings. Where the review identifies a need for changes, we provide a corrective plan so that your business can understand what needs attention.

The report gives you a record of the issues identified within the audit scope. Your business remains responsible for carrying out any required action and continuing to meet its sponsor duties.

Follow-up reviews are charged separately. If you would like us to check the changes you have made or assist with further work arising from the findings, we agree that work and its fee separately.

Audit fees

Our audit fees start from £1,000. The final price depends on the type of audit, the size of your workforce, the number of locations involved and the depth of review required. Once those matters have been defined, we agree a fixed fee for the audit.

Travel costs for an agreed on-site audit are included. We are not currently VAT registered.

A formal audit is a separately charged service from our Ongoing Compliance & HR support. The audit provides a defined review and written findings; the monthly service supports the ongoing management of agreed compliance tasks. Follow-up audit work is quoted separately.

Why Knightsbridge

A useful audit needs to connect the records with the way your business operates. A missing document, an incomplete check and a change that never reached the person responsible for reporting it can require different responses.

Our review brings together a file sample, checks on sponsorship information and focused conversations with the people carrying out the work. That helps make the findings relevant to your business and the corrective plan useful to the people who will act on it.

You know the agreed scope and fixed fee before the audit begins. You also know what you will receive and that any follow-up work will be separately agreed.

Request an immigration and HR audit

Tell us how many workers you employ and sponsor, how many locations are involved, and what has prompted the audit. Let us know whether you would prefer a remote or on-site review and whether the Home Office has set a deadline.

We will establish the appropriate audit scope and confirm the fixed fee before you decide whether to proceed.
